Water Activities in Trujillo

Starfish

Trujillo is best known for its attractive Beaches, with pale sand fronting a glassy, waveless ocean.  Marea sets right on one of the best beaches in Trillijo - Trujillo Bay and its few hidden treasures. There is an abundance of starfish life at the Banco de Estrellas Marinas (starfish sandbar) or go snorkeling around one of the many sunken ships or the coral reefs of Cayo Blanco.

Soak up the tranquility of our shoreline and the majestic mountain reaching above the clouds behind you or strolling along the fine white sandy beach you will be captivated by the abundance of sea glass.  For 500 years, broken dishes were thrown in the garbage (meaning into the river), to be disposed of by the natural cycle.  As the predominant movement of coastal sand in Trujillo is from west to east, the material washed down from the mountain works its way counterclockwise to the point at Castilla.

Or set out on a kayak and discover the tranquil beauty of the land, mountains and villages while paddling along the pristine shores of the bay and don’t forget to stop in by a beachside open-air thatched-roof restaurant/bar which provides you with local eats and a refreshing beverage.

Cayuco's

Fishing you can find two or three Americans with motorized boats who might take you out for a tour or fishing. Maybe a local fisherman will take you fishing in the small motorized dinghy or maybe you can get one of the Garifuna fishermen to take you in his “cayuco” (dugout canoe).
